Guitar

Headbanging to Trivium again, mostly Ascendancy, which is doing a very good job of sending me straight back to high school.

The guitar-building dream has moved along a little. I am now designing, which is the part where nothing can go wrong because nothing exists yet: headstocks and body shapes in Fusion 360, one careful iteration at a time. I am playing the tortoise in this particular story.

On the side, I am dipping a toe into DSP, with coding agents as very patient tutors: a notebook for riffs, and a workbench for effects.

Thinking About

• Why so many AI products feel like a feature someone bolted on after launch.
• Models are getting better faster than I can keep up. For personal use, my time might be better spent on the context and the harness around them.
• With Fable and Astra out, MIR for distorted guitar may still not be definitely solvable. It might be definitely researchable, with AI as the lead researcher.
• The challenges of building AI healthcare products for the Indian population, especially with the lack of a robust digital infrastructure in most of our healthcare sector.
• How to work with several agents at once, and what a director’s approach to product building looks like: setting the scene, casting the parts, and knowing when to call cut.
• Open-source, AI-native apps that help people navigate Indian bureaucracy, and maybe make our cities work a little better. And how a single builder would afford to run them, or keep them running.
